The protection and safety of our ports are vital to our national security. Vessel security, cargo inspection, passenger and personnel screening, and perimeter security must be an integrated part of the design to mitigate risk and prevent a terrorist threat, drug trafficking or entry of illegal aliens or "persons of interest".
