Clifton, New Jersey, October 24, 2006 - Electronic Control Security Inc. (OTC BB: EKCS), a global leader in security and anti-terrorism systems announces the last stage of the upgrade program underway at the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) sites in Louisiana and Texas. The $8.5 million project was initiated in 2002 and is 90% complete. ECSI will now complete the last 10% of the program. ECSI has also received a contract valued at over $1 million to secure Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) facilities in Texas and classified sites in South Korea.
SPR was designed by the U.S. Department of Energy as oil storage sites and is the largest stockpile of oil in the country. Given the global situation, DOE is determined to fill the reserves to capacity and aggressively protect them. The four SPR sites and the LNG facility are located along the Louisiana and Texas shorelines.
"Although this upgrade was underway long before recent terrorist attacks, the importance of protecting the SPR sites is crucial in today's environment," commented Arthur Barchenko, President and CEO of ECSI. "Our business is to provide security solutions to prevent infiltration and guard against terrorist activities. We are very proud to have been chosen to help protect the perimeter integrity of these sensitive and important assets."
The LNG and Korean facility security upgrades provide state-of-the art solutions utilizing three key ECSI security technologies. All three technologies are in use at nuclear power generating and government facilities across the country and overseas.
